So good. We love sitting at the bar and watching them make all of the different ice cream treats!

Going to Payne's for lunch is must if your in Scottsboro. The hot dogs and sandwiches are wonderful and ice cream is an added bonus!

Love coming here on our way to unclaimed baggage. The chicken lemon orzo soup was the best I've ever had!

My granddaughter and I always go here. We absolutely love the atmosphere and the workers are always so nice. Plus, they have the best ice cream around.

Great local restaurant/ ice cream shop that is not too far from the Unclaimed Baggage Center. They serve 19 flavors of ice cream (mayfield) for great prices. On Thursdays, if you are 65yrs or older you can get up to 2 scoops of ice cream for 5 Cents per scoop. You can not beat that. Loved great hometown vibe off this local shop. I will go again if I am near Scottsboro.

We eat there most Saturdays. Food is good people are great! Atmosphere is very nostalgic. Saturday is 50 cent hotdogs chips and ice cream only 50 cents each!!!! Waitresses are so nice! I posted picture of two.

Great place for ice cream or an old time float! A Scottsboro original! The menu isn't huge but the staff is friendly. Saturday special is 50 cent hot dogs, chips, and ice cream. Kids love it!

The service and food were excellent. The chicken Caesar salad was so tasty! I especially enjoyed the decor and atmosphere. I felt like I had been transported back in time to the 1950's.

Payne's is a great place for a quick bite or lunch with the family. Their menu includes: hot dogs, burgers, reuben sandwiches, and salads. Lots of delicious ice cream choices to pick from for dessert! Love this place!

If you're in the area and fail to stop, you have missed out. This place is the old time drug store soda shop style of place. The sandwich selection is awesome, I recommend the Dagwood, and the Italian stallion. The ice cream selection is another reason to stop, very tasty. This is a must if you're traveling in the area. Well deserved five stars!

Adorable, quaint little historic ice cream and soda fountain shop. This place had been around since before Scottsboro was even considered a city! Very friendly workers and old school atmosphere. The sundaes and ice cream are delicious and made in front of you. So glad we stopped it!

Payne’s has such a fun atmosphere. The sandwiches and ice cream are very tasty and all of the staff is friendly and inviting. Fun stop for a full meal or just a scoop of ice cream. Located in the historic downtown area so parking can sometimes be tricky.

Great food! Vintage decor and local flavor. My young son and I split the Dagwood sandwich it's 6 inches high with goodness. We couldn't finish it but enjoyed trying. The potato salad was very good. The ice cream! Everyone was rib gorgeous ice cream when we finished eating our lunch. Sadly we were to full to enjoy the ice cream. We'll be back to get ice cream the next time were going to Unclaimed Baggage! Their fixing up the sidewalks around the square but it won't interfere with your visit.

There are few places like this left... Family owned and ran like a1950"s soda shop... The seats were full the hold time we where there. Homemade sandwiches, 6'' high sundie's I'll drive the two hours back just to go there.. That's how much I loved it and how good the food is

Great food, friendly service. Ordered a white slaw hot dog and the shrimp salad croissant sandwich with remoulade sauce - delicious. Came back for ice cream cones after shopping.

Awesome sandwiches at low prices. Had the Dagwood and Italian Stallion. We split a homemade potato salad (yum!). Either sandwich is easily for two people. Fresh vegetables. Recommended the ice cream shake, ours was chocolate. Friendly, responsive staff. Single dip cone only $2.

One of my favorite places to eat in Scottsboro. I love the milkshake they have, and their hot dogs. I also like all of the artwork on the walls, and the straw wrappers on the ceiling. If you get the chance go in, you wont regret it. Five Stars, would recommend

The service is fast and the waitresses r all nice. The ice cream is so good even the sugar free vanilla. My salted caramel cheesecake was super delish n not crazy sweet.

Loved the vibes and food here! I felt like we had time-warped back 50 years to a kinder and gentler time, where the food was just plain good, and the servers dishing up the phenomenal shakes and malts were still called soda jerks. We will stop back by here on our way out of 'bama, for sure!

As good as promised. Great old soda fountain atmosphere with friendly and courteous staff. Food was great with large portions. We had the Reuben sandwich followed by a double dip ice cream cone. Prices are reasonable. Very relaxed and enjoyable lunch stop. Highly recommended stop when in Scottsboro.

It is like stepping back in time! Pain Drug Company dates back to 1869 and still has a working soda fountain where they serve delicious ice cream treats as well as a full menu for lunch. The pimento cheese sandwich on sourdough bread was fantastic and so was the Shrimp Remulade on croissant!

Great Garwood Dandwhich. Husband loved his float and great potato salad. The straws on ceilingvkinda gross. Great service and fast.

Not what I expected at all. I ordered a BLT. It was packed with bacon and portion size was good. Wish they would have had chips to go with sandwich meal.

Hardly write reviews on here, but this one needed to be done. About a year ago our group went in and sat down on a booth and waited to be greeted with a menu. Not a single hello or welcome. The employees definitely saw us walk in. Must have waited a good 5 minutes before we realized we were being ignored. A couple families walked in afterwards and they were politely greeted and quickly served at their table. We had a feeling we were being discriminated for being the only hispanic individuals there, as the employees walked right past us a couple times and not even a smile. The atmosphere there was horrendous. Even the customers kept looking over their shoulder, staring and our table continuously. We got up after we felt uncomfortable and walked out.
